The company that makes Amy’s Kitchen frozen foods has recalled many of their products over a bacteria concern.
In a press release issued by the Food and Drug Administration, the voluntary recall was issued for over 73,000 of products over concerns for listeria. One of the suppliers for the company’s organic spinach’s made them aware there was a possibility that the spinach contained bacteria known as Listeria monocytogenes, which causes serious infection.
So far, the company has not reported any complaints of illness from consumers, but they decided to proceed with caution and recall the products, which were distributed throughout the United States and Canada.
NJ.com reported many of the recalled items include frozen meals, such as lasagna, and their spinach products. Listeria can cause symptoms such as high fever, stiffness, abdominal pain, and nausea.
The Amy’s Kitchen items that were recalled included items sold between the months of January and March and the products in the recall include their tofu scramble, Vegetable Lasagna, and pizza.
Another company, Wegmans, also issued a recall of their frozen organic spinach that was sold between the months of January 27 and March 21. Stores in Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Maryland were affected.
