After Twitter blocked Islamic State accounts, self-proclaimed supporters have allegedly declared war on the social network’s co-founder and some of his employees.
CNN noted that online threats were allegedly made against Jack Dorsey as well as Twitter employees in retaliation for shutting down accounts promoting ISIS.
"How would you protect your miserable employees Jack, when their necks become an official target to ISIS soldiers and supporters, what would you tell their families and their sons, and you are the one who involved them in this lost war," an anonymous post on a forum in Arabic read.
The news was first reported by Buzzfeed on Sunday.
“Our security team is investigating the veracity of these threats with relevant law enforcement officials,” spokesman for Twitter Jim Prosser said.
Twitter has routinely shut down ISIS-related accounts citing that the company’s policy prohibits the use of the service for violence and threats.
Dorsey, 38, is a web developer and entrepreneur who co-founded the social media site in 2006. It currently has more than 500 million active users.
