Boston has surpassed its snowiest winter ever recorded and even more could fall in the city before the season is over.

The Associated Press noted that the additional 2.9 inches the area received on Sunday topped the old record of 107.6 for a new record total of 108.6 this winter. Records for snowfall totals have been kept since way back in 1872.

"Superbowls, World Series', Stanley Cups, and snowfall records," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh tweeted. "We are truly a title city.”

Plows and residents have been busy removing and shoveling themselves out all season and it may not be over just yet.

The Boston Herald reported that after breaking the record and literally having more snow than the city knows what to do with, forecasters said that even more could be on the way.

Temperatures will be in the 40s to start off the week, but dip down into the 20s and 30s for the rest of the week. The next potential system that may dump more of the white stuff on the city would be over the weekend at some point. So, we’ll have to wait and see if old-man winter decides to give Boston a new total.
