This weekend's box office results have come in with underwhelming results. Despite a brand new release from science fiction director Niell Blomkamp and a new comedy from Vince Vaughn, the box office couldn't recover from another slow weekend of movie going.
Variety reported that Neill Blomkamp's third feature film, Chappie will be taking the number one spot at the box office. Making an expected $13 million to $13.5 million. This is the lowest debut for Blomkamp's career. His debut film, District 9, opened with $37.4 million back in 2009 and Elysium, featuring Matt Damon, made $29.8 million opening weekend back in 2013.
Chappie features a star studded cast, including Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel and Sigourney Weaver.
Vince Vaughn's latest comedy, Unfinished Business, is on track to make around $5 million at the box office. This would be the worst debut of Vaughn's career. Unfinished Business was made on a budget of $35 million, according to Yahoo! Finance.
