It’s official. Frozen is getting a sequel, Disney has confirmed on Thursday. The team behind the record-breaking animated film will be back for some more icy fun.
Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee will direct while Peter Del Vecho produces again.
The Disney Animation Studios Instagram account confirmed the news with a statement. “It’s of-f-f-f-f-icial: ‘#Frozen2’ is in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios,” they wrote.
“The news was announced at Disney’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders this morning by Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company; John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios; and actor Josh Gad, who provides the voice of Olaf from Frozen A release date and production details are on ice for now.”
This is news everyone saw coming, it was just a matter of when. After all, it’s the highest grossing animated film of all time.
In the meantime, we can get our Frozen fix in the short Frozen Fever, which will debut in theaters before Cinderella starting March 13.
