The live-action Beauty and the Beast remake has received a release date of March 17, 2017. Production is set to begin in May in London.
Emma Watson will star as Belle in Bill Condon’s life-action version of the tale as old as time. Her casting was confirmed in January. Last month it was confirmed Dan Stevens would star opposite as the Beast.
Variety reported on Disney setting the date for 2017. The film will include new recordings of its original, legendary songs like “Be Our Guest.”
As we previously reported, the roles of Gaston and LeFou have also been announced as Luke Evans and Frozen’s Josh Gad, respectively.
In the announcement, Watson called it a dream to play Belle in the remake. "It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There.’ My 6-year-old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting,” she wrote.
