Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington first graced the screen together in Training Day, the film which got the latter his first Oscar. Now over 14 years later, it looks like both shall return to work together with the director of their 2001 film, Antoine Fuqua, for his upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven.

Variety reported on potential three-way reunion, as Hawke is in final talks to join an already confirmed Washington. He's set to join Chris Pratt and Haley Bennett, who starred in Fuqua's The Equalizer last year which also featured Washington.

A redo of what was already a remake of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, this new Magnificent Seven also centers on seven gunslingers protecting an oppressed Mexican village when a group of outlaws try to take over the town. The first draft of the screenplay was penned by True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto with John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) hired recently for a rewrite.

Naturally with Washington marking his third collaboration with Fuqua and Pratt and Hawke in talks to star, MGM has some mighty big sights in store for this remake. Whether or not it lives up to the legacy of the original two features has yet to be determined, although the filmmakers are definitely off to a good start so far.

Hawke, recently up for a Best Supporting Oscar nomination with Boyhood, soon can be seen in Good Kill, Regression, In the Valley of Violence, Ten Thousand Saints, Born to be Blue, The Phenom and Maggie's Plan later this year. He also recently directed the documentary Seymour: The Introduction.
