More awful news about the Germanwings flight that crashed in the French Alps came on Thursday when a French prosecutor said that the co-pilot allegedly wanted to destroy the aircraft.
Good Morning America reported that Brice Robin, Public Prosecutor of Marseille, said that on the voice recorder co-pilot Andreas Lubitz, can be heard locking the other pilot out of the cockpit. The pilot was heard knocking on the door and asking to enter the cockpit, but Lubitz never responded. Air traffic control tried to get in contact with Lubitz as well, but were unsuccessful.
The co-pilot was also heard breathing before the plane crashed indicating that he was alive just before the crash.
“The intention was to destroy the plane," Robin said. "Death was instantaneous."
As previously noted, the Airbus A320 crashed in the French Alps Tuesday morning and officials deployed to the site later recovered the plane’s black box.
All 150 people on board were killed. Among the deceased were two Americans.
Most of the other passengers were German. The plane had left Barcelona and was bound for Dusseldorf.
