Here is a bit of good news out of Utah … authorities said the health of the toddler who survived frigid temps, while upside down in a car for 14 hours is in stable condition.
The Associated Press noted that 18-month-old Lily Groesbeck’s condition has been upgraded from critical to stable at a Salt Lake City hospital.
"She is doing remarkably well considering the circumstance. The doctors have been hopeful so far," the toddler’s aunt Jill Sanderson told reporters on Sunday.
As CNN noted, police said the child was in the car when her mother was involved in a wreck.
The toddler was found by a fisherman in Spanish Fork. She was still strapped in her car seat and unconscious, but alive. Sadly, her mother, Lynn Groesbeck, 25, was not.
Investigators believe the vehicle struck a cement barrier on a bridge, causing it to crash into the river.
It is miraculous that the child survived upside down, in freezing temperatures, without anything to eat or drink for 14 hours and that her health has been improving.
The family thanked all those who played a role in helping to save baby Lily’s life.
