If you love pancakes you might want to head over to IHOP today because the restaurant is giving them away for free all day in honor of National Pancake Day.

IHOP first began celebrating its Decade of Giving campaign in 2006. Every year, customers are treated to free short stacks and asked to make a donation to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals or other charities. So while enjoying your buttermilk hotcakes you can also contribute to a great cause. What’s better than that?

Syracuse.com noted that so far the pancake chain has raised close to $16 million for multiple charities and are hoping to add another $3.5 million this year.

Last year, generous diners donated $3 million and ate about 4 million hotcakes on National Pancake Day, which is enough flapjacks to create a stack around 12 miles high.

More than 1,500 IHOP restaurants around the country are participating and the celebration on March 3 runs from 7 a.m. through 10 p.m.
