Inmates at Rikers Island saved a female correctional officer from getting raped by a 27-year-old fellow inmate on Saturday night.
Raleek Young trapped the CO in a bathroom and masturbated in front of her while he choked her, all while blocking the door.
Another inmate managed to fit through a crack and open the security door to set the CO free, where he and others held him down as they waited for help from other officers. The incident was caught on surveillance video.
Correction Department spokeswoman Eve Kessler told Daily News, “The matter is under investigation.”
Young is serving a 5-10-year sentence at Rikers for raping a 13-year-old girl back in 2007.
Correction Officers Benevolent Association President Norman Seabrook had to report to the prison and convince the correction officers on duty to report to their posts the following day after the case was labeled “use of force” instead of sexual assault.
“There must be accountability. Officers are assaulted every day, and (Bronx DA Robert Johnson) has the audacity to say, ‘Not today, bring him back at another time,’” he said. “I will not tolerate it. I will not stand for it.”
