Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves and Jason Momoa are not three stars whose names come together in casual conversation. Then again, writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour (A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night) is not your typical director. As such, when it comes to make her latest film The Bad Batch, she finds the three distinct male actors under the same roof for an unusual cinematic event.

Reeves and Carrey joining Momoa in Amirpour's upcoming cannibal love story comes from The Wrap. Described once as Amirpour's "Mad Max meets Gummo," The Bad Batch is a post-apocalyptic Texas wasteland tale which focuses on a community of cannibals.

A love story about a cannibal named Miami Man (Momoa) and his meals, Carrey and Reeves also star beside Diego Luna and Suki Waterhouse on the picture. Reeves plays a character named The Dream in the picture, while Carrey is The Hermit. Luna is cast as Jimmy while Waterhouse plays Arlen, the female lead of the film.

Super producer Megan Ellison (American Hustle, Her) announced she'd take Amirpour's latest film under her wing this January. Also under Vice's banner, Ellison's Annapurna Pictures plans to sell the international rights to the film at the Cannes Film Festival.

Deadline reports The Bad Batch begins production in L.A. next month. Between A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night's critical success and Vice/Ellison's involvement, it's hard to believe this sophomore film has trouble gaining attention in the months to come.

Reeves is often known for his genre flicks, including his upcoming turn in Nicolas Winding Refn's The Neon Demon, but Carrey's commitment comes as a surprise. While a versatile actor with a history in drama and horror, this is his first time in the cannibal genre, to be sure. The comedy actor was last seen in Dumb and Dumber To this past fall.
