Justin Bieber announced that he's collaborating with Kanye West and producer Rick Rubin to create a mature sound for his next album.

Bieber broke the news in an interview with USA Today that he decided to start over with his new music. Bieber said that he had finished an album already but didn't feel like it reflected where he's at at this stage of his life. The pop star added that he hopes the album will inspire people.

"I want to tell my story, but I also want to give people hope," he said. "I lost hope for a while, I was in a dark place, but it's about getting out of that rut. It's about knowing there's sunshine on the other side."

Rolling Stone reports that the album will lyrically focus on growing up and being in touch with oneself. Bieber said that getting involved with the wrong people caused him to make bad decisions over the past few years and has apologized for those mistakes. Recently, Bieber was the subject of a Comedy Central Roast where his past incidents were brought up.

Bieber said the album is still in production and plans on going on tour after its release.
