Kelly Reichardt, one of the most acclaimed indie directors of today, has pulled together a great cast for her newest movie. In addition to re-teaming with Michelle Williams for a third time, Laura Dern, Jared Harris, James Le Gros and now Kristen Stewart are on-board to fill out the ensemble drama.
As a tale of the lives of those in small-town Montana, Reichardt's untitled film has Stewart to play a young lawyer from Boise who takes a teaching job some hours from her house. Deadline notes her character then gets a close friendship with a woman who audits her class. Also cast is up-and-comer Sara Rodier (CBS's Bad Teacher), in addition to the names mentioned above.
This news comes after Film Divider predicted she would star in the indie last week. Her involvement in this comes after Stewart has tried to progress into serious indie work after her involvement in the Twilight series and Snow White and the Huntsman caused her to be something of a punchline in Hollywood.
Stewart earned acclaimed of late for her lead work in Camp X-Ray and supporting work in Clouds of Sils Maria and Still Alice last year. These performances made her become the first American actress to win the Cesar Award a week ago.
Production on Reichardt's new film will film on location in Big Sky country within the near future. Williams also worked with Recihardt on Wendy and Lucy and Meek's Cutoff and also leads this upcoming feature.
Stewart stars in Anesthesia, Equals and American Ultra this year.
