Liam Neeson has migrated from drama to action in recent years, starring in films such as Taken and Non-Stop. However, the actor's time in this genre may be over very soon.

According to The Guardian, Liam Neeson only plans to star in action films for two more years, "if God spares me, and I'm healthy."

Neeson didn't seem totally definitive about this, so the "two years" figure probably is just a rough estimate and nothing set in stone. But it's still clear now that Neeson doesn't plan to be an action star for much longer and will probably head back to drama films pretty soon.

The actor became famous for starring in drama films such as Schindler's List. But when Taken was a big hit in 2008, grossing $226 million worldwide, Neeson suddenly became an action hero, and for the most part that's where he's remained since then. He went on to do two Taken sequels, as well as movies like Non-Stop, The Grey, and Run all Night, all of which capitalize heavily on the image of Neeson as a badass action hero.

The actor noted to The Guardian that he's been seen in a different light since Taken and is now sent a lot of action scripts, and although this is flattering he said there's of course a limit to how long he can do this. When Taken 3 came out earlier this year, he joked that soon audiences would start saying "Come on, he's 62, enough is enough," according to The Guardian.

Just based on box office numbers, it doesn't appear audiences are having that reaction quite yet. Taken 3 grossed $289 million at the box office, and before that Non-Stop grossed $222 million. We'll have to keep an eye on how his new movie Run All Night does, but at least for now it appears that audiences are still thirsty for more Liam Neeson kicking ass.

Run All Night is now playing in theaters.
