Miranda Lambert made a young double amputee’s wishes come true when she signed her prosthetic leg at her Biloxi, Miss concert this past Saturday night.
Kalyn Squires, 8, who traveled from her hometown of Ellisville, has a photo of Lambert on her left leg. She also has a portrait of her other favorite country star, Luke Bryan, on her right leg.
Hanger Prosthetic & Orthotics in Hattiesburg paid for Kalyn and her family to go to Lambert’s concert and arranged a meet-and-greet with the singer after she got her newest pair of legs made. She became a double amputee at just 8 months old due to a congenial birth defect.
Kalyn’s mom, Christy Dean Squires, told Mississippi’s WSMV, "Her positive attitude on life is how she overcomes all obstacles, she doesn't allow anything to hold her back. Anytime she sees someone with any type of physical difference, she walks up to them and introduces herself, and tells them they are special just like her."
In addition to signing her prosthetic leg, Lambert gave her young fan several other pieces of signed memorabilia.
Kalyn’s family set up a Facebook page called Kalyn’s Journey as a Double Amputee, with her photograph with Lambert now its cover photo.
