Jared Hess has big plans in store for a toy store.
According to Variety, the Napoleon Dynamite director has been hired to helm the upcoming Disney film Overnight at 42nd Street.
Written by Oren Uziel, the family-friendly comedy will follow a father and son who are given the chance to stay in a grand toy store for a night. Casting hasn’t been announced, although Will Ferrell was once in talks to play the father when Gary Sanchez Productions was attached to produce.
Hess has been busy recently, with Lionsgate picking up his latest film, Don Verdean. He is also working on post-production for the Relativity heist comedy Masterminds.
Hess first made waves with the 2004 comedy Napoleon Dynamite, starring Jon Heder as the gloriously nerdy title character. His later films include Nacho Libre and Gentleman Broncos. Hess usually writes his films with his wife, Jerusha Hess.
Neal Moritz and Ori Marmur will produce .
