Both Prometheus 2 and Neill Blomkamp's Alien sequel are currently in development, and the storyline for Prometheus 2 will apparently somewhat affect the way Blomkamp approaches his film.

According to Empire Online, Blomkamp said his film will not "tread on the toes" of the Prometheus sequel, and he did change one thing about the movie that Ridley Scott "felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit."

Who knows how major this thing he's talking about is, but it sounds like it's probably just a minor element and not Blomkamp making major changes to his vision because of Prometheus. After all, Prometheus takes place long before the events of the first Alien movie, so it's not like the timelines of the two will intersect. But it's still interesting to hear that Scott and Blomkamp are coordinating and that the production of these movies will affect each other in some ways.

Blomkamp was also asked about the title of the movie, which we can now say pretty confidently will not be Alien 5. He said that he has a title that he sent to Ridley Scott and that it's very bold but would give away too much if he reveals it now. What could this title be that it's actually a spoiler for the movie?

The director also once again made it clear that he's really interested in the first two Alien films, joking that this movie's title could be Alien 3 (no, really). However, Blomkamp apparently just means the movie will be more in line with the first two movies while not literally wiping out the events of the third and fourth films, with the director recently making clear he isn't trying to undo those movies, according to Variety.

As we previously reported, Blomkamp will be directing the new Alien movie with Ridley Scott executive producing. Where it fits in with the timeline is kind of confusing. Blomkamp says he isn't undoing Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, but based on early concept art, characters like Hicks who were killed off in Alien 3 are apparently alive in this one. Is this an alternate dimension? Were the events of Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection a dream? Was Hicks brought back from the dead? What's going on here?

No word yet on when we might be able to expect this Alien sequel, but for now we can look forward to Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2, which will hit theaters on March 4, 2016.
