Nelly went overseas to support the troops that are currently fighting - showing his support for the Kurdish soldiers who are currently fighting ISIS.

New York Daily News reported that the concert was a charity event that was sponsored by Rwanga Foundation, a nonprofit foundation. Turns out Nelly was the first American artist to perform in the past 8,000 years.

Nelly was chosen to perform as a way to “assist the most vulnerable of the populace in Kurdistan, Iraq and in the greater global community.” Nelly wasn't the only one featured during the event, also featured was Arab Idol's Ammar Koofy and motocross star André Villa.

The concert was put together by the foundation in order to promote peace and bring hope to an area that needed it most. It also raised money to impact those that had been impacted by the recent conflict in the area, Daily Mail reported.

There has been some social media backlash because Nelly was not using the money that he received for the performance to support U.S. troops.
