President Obama says that young people campaigning for the legalization of marijuana should make sure their priorities are in order.

Obama told Vice in an interview that marijuana legalization should not be the biggest priority for young voters. The President suggested that they should instead focus on larger issues affecting the United States.

"Young people, I understand this is important to you," Obama said. "But you should be thinking about climate change, the economy, jobs. War and peace. Maybe way at the bottom you should be thinking about marijuana.”

According to Buzzfeed, Obama added that he doesn't believe making marijuana legal would solve more problems than it would create due to vulnerable parts of society. The President also said that he doesn't think locking up victims of substance abuse is a reasonable solution either.

Obama has spoken out about marijuana in the past, even saying that its not as dangerous as alcohol. The fight for the decriminalization and legalization of marijuana continues as five states have legalized the substance.
