Questions are surrounding the sudden death of an Irish Setter only 24 hours after participating in a dog show.
ABC News reported that the dog, a three-year old named Thendara Satisfaction who also went by Jagger, had just competed in Britain’s Crufts dog show, which took place in Birminghand, England and had gotten second place. After leaving the dog show, he passed away on Friday.
One of his owners, Dee Milligan Bott, took to Facebook and spoke about the aupsoy finding a cube of beef that was filled with poisons “stitched into the meat.”
The daughter of Jagger’s breeder, Amy Nettleton, reportedly told BBC the autopsy for the dog found “cubes of meat in his tummy that were laced with poison.” A secretary for The Kennel Club, Caroline Kisko, said, “The Kennel Club is deeply shocked and saddened to hear that Jagger the Irish setter died some 26 hours after leaving Crufts.”
No leads have been found to indicate who may have been responsible for the dog’s poisoning.
There have been reports of other dogs being taken ill.
BBC News reported that a toxicology report from the autopsy is expected to be complete by next week. Milligan Bott’s husband said, “I can only hope it wasn’t an act of jealousy by another competitor, but just a lunatic.”
Milligan Bott spoke out saying she did not believe another exhibitor could have been responsible for poisoning the dog and that many of their other competitors “have been in tears.”
The police are currently investigating, including looking at CCTV footage from the event.
