Authorities in California have said that a woman, who they believe faked her own kidnapping is missing again, perhaps to send police on a another “wild goose chase.”

As previously reported, there were questions from the start after Denise Huskins was reported missing by her boyfriend in Northern California on Monday and found safe in Southern California two days later.

The 29-year-old’s beau told a bizarre tale that abductors broke into their San Francisco Bay area home, kidnapped Huskins and were holding her for $8,500 ransom.

On Wednesday though, she called her father and said that her supposed kidnappers dropped her off safely at her mother’s home in Huntington Beach.

"There is no evidence to support the claims that this was a stranger abduction or an abduction at all," Lt. Kenny Park, spokesman for the Vallejo Police Department said in a statement, according to FoxNews.com. "Given the facts that have been presented thus far, this event appears to be an orchestrated event and not a kidnapping."

The Los Angeles Times noted that after Huskins turned up, the FBI arranged a flight to bring her back to Northern California for an interview. However, she never boarded the plane and now agents have not been able to locate her.

Huskins and her boyfriend Aaron Quinn could face charges for the alleged hoax.
