Authorities in Longmont, Colorado have said that a pregnant woman was attacked and her baby was cut from her womb after she answered an ad on Craigslist.
The Denver Post reported that a 26-year-old woman, who was seven months pregnant, answered the online ad to purchase baby clothes. Police said when she arrived Dynel Lane, 34, allegedly stabbed her and "removed" the baby.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at the home Wednesday and found the victim bleeding with her stomach cut. She was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive, however, he child did not.
The suspect in this case apparently told her husband that she suffered a miscarriage and had him drive her to the hospital thinking the baby was still alive. He is not expected to face charges. His wife on the other hand was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and child abuse leading to death. She is due in court on Thursday afternoon.
ABC 22 noted that due to the growing number of crimes associated with those answering Craigslist ads, several police stations have set up "safe zones" for sellers and buyers to conduct business.
