Queen Elizabeth II has made Joan Collins a Dame a Buckingham Palace on Thursday, though Prince Charles was the one who presented her with the honor.

Collins, 81, is best known for her role as Alexis Carrington on Dynasty from the ‘80s. She will soon portray the queen’s mother in E!’s new series The Royals.

“Not in a billion years did I think I would be made a Dame; it never even crossed my mind," Collins told the media at the ceremony, People reports.

She attended the ceremony with her two children from her second marriage, as well as her fifth husband, Percy Gibson.

“It wasn't anything I ever aspired to. I just wanted to be a jobbing actress, a working actor and somebody who could still perform,” she continued.

Daily Mail reports she wore a dress and coat she designed herself as well as a Philip Treacy hat for the occasion.

She was given the honor of Dame because of her charity work, which includes involvement in Feed the Children, the Elton John Aids Foundation, NSPCC, Fight for Sight and Barnardo's.
