The highly-anticipated Star Wars: Episode VIII now has a release date of May 26, 2017, Disney and Lucasfilm have confirmed on Thursday. The other exciting news announced was the first stand-alone film’s title has been revealed as Rogue One.

The news was confirmed on Thursday after a shareholders meeting took place at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

StarWars.com reports Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One will be the first in a series of spin-offs. It will star The Theory of Everything’s Felicity Jones, which was rumored and now confirmed and hits theaters Dec. 16, 2016.

In addition to all the exciting Star Wars news, it’s been confirmed Rian Johnson will both write and direct Episode VIII, taking control from J.J. Abrams. The film will make its debut in theaters 40 years and one day after the first Star Wars film A New Hope.
