For a limited time only, Starbucks will offer a birthday cake flavored Frappuccino in celebration of the coffee franchise’s popular drink, which launched 20 years ago.
It will be available starting Thursday, March 26 through Monday, March 30. It consists of vanilla bean and hazelnut with raspberry-infused whipped cream on top, USA Today reports.
“When you think about it, 20 years ago, the business, Starbucks hadn't launched into a whole host of warm weather markets. We were reliant on the holiday season," Dina Campion, a Starbucks employee for the last two decades, said in a statement.
"With Frappuccino, we were able to level out the dips in store traffic in the summer."
In honor of the Frappuccino turning 20, Starbucks has provided the drink's history on their website. The first drink of its kind was served in a California location back in 1993. By 1995, all of its stores across Canada and the U.S. were selling the refreshing drink. By the next year they were bottled up to sell in stores.
