Three suspected gunmen were apprehended and taken into custody on Tuesday morning after allegedly shooting at members of the Los Angeles Police Department.
CBSLA.com noted that officials have said that three masked men opened fire on police officers patrolling an area just after 6:00 a.m. They allegedly ambushed the officers at an intersection and began shooting.
Luckily, none of the police were hit and the suspects were arrested and booked. However, the weapon used was not recovered when the men were searched, so authorities are continuing to try and locate the gun.
As previously reported, the LAPD made the news hours before the incident for the fatal shooting of a homeless man in the city’s Skid Row section. Some witnesses said they thought the situation could have been handled differently. However, the department defended the shooting and pointed out the man had been Tased and still continued to struggle with the officers and even reached for one of their handguns. So far, there has not been any evidence to suggest that Tuesday’s violence was at all related to that particular shooting.
The investigation into both incidents is still ongoing.
