Two important things happened on Feb. 1. The New England Patriots won their fourth Super Bowl and Katy Perry’s backup dancer in the Left Shark costume couldn’t keep up with the Right Shark’s dance moves. Since then, Perry has made sure that we don’t forget about the second thing and is now making onesies based on the Left Shark available.
The onesie, which has the shark’s mouth around the stomach area, can be pre-ordered on the “Roar” singer’s website. It also says “Katy Perry” on the back so you can’t convince people that you are dressed as Bruce from Finding Nemo.
If you can’t afford the onesie, you can get a white T-shirt for $25 that has the Left Shark on the front under the words “Current Mood.” On the back, it has the hashtag “#LeftShark.”
Perry and her team instantly realized that the Left Shark could be a moneymaker. They sent a cease and desist letter to an artist who tried to sell Left Shark figures. ESPN’s Darren Rovell also reported that Perry trademarked the phrase “Left Shark” just five days after Super Bowl XLIX.
That poor Right Shark. He did everything right and still can’t get noticed.
