When Hugh Jackman decides to put away his Wolverine claws may not be known, but it's likely sooner opposed to later. It's not gonna happen tomorrow, though as he gears up to play the superhero in X-Men: Apocalypse soon and director James Magnold reveals The Wolverine sequel starts production early next year.

This filming update comes from Magnold's Twitter, found on We Got This Covered, when a user asked the filmmaker "when does filming stars on Wolverine 3???" He responded back with the very blunt "early next year."

While this cannot be the first time Mangold has gotten this question, this tweet is the first time fans got an idea on when the sequel will come along. With a release date set for March 3, 2017, little is known about the upcoming sequel other than, of course Mangold and Jackman return. Mangold also helmed The Wolverine.

Jackman did make some comments on it last year, but they weren't very detailed. According to some reports, Professor X is involved and the script is being penned at the moment.

Will this be the last time Jackman plays Wolverine? It could very well be. This is, at the moment, the last time Jackman is scheduled to play the silver-clawed X-Man. The actor has said, however, he'd play Wolverine until he dies. He also thinks Wolverine could join the Avengers some day.

Jackmans stars in Chappie, which came to theaters today, and also soon appears in Pan later this year. He also soon goes to production on The Greatest Showman on Earth, an original musical, in addition to these new X-Men features.
