A South African news reporter and his crew were mugged just as they were set to go on live TV and the whole thing was caught on video.
Good Morning America reported that Vuyo Mvoko, a contributing editor for SABC and his crew members were robbed just as the station was going live to him for an evening news bulletin.
The broadcast station said that Mvoko and his colleagues became victims “of a mugging outside Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg in full view of SABC cameras.”
The Independent noted that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, while Mvoko was waiting to give a report on Zambian President Edgar Lungu being hospitalized. However, before he actually said anything the video shows unknown men appear behind him and rob the crew, allegedly at gunpoint.
The thieves were said to have made off with the crew’s cell phones and a computer
Police are now searching for the robbers who may not be too hard to find since their faces were clearly shown on camera as they seemed unaware that they were being recorded.
