A Colorado woman accused of luring a pregnant woman to her home via a Craigslist ad and cutting that woman’s unborn child from her womb will not face murder charges.

The Associated Press noted that the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office has said that Dynel Lane, 34, will not face murder charges for the death of the unborn child. The office did not elaborate on what other charges could be brought against her for the alleged attack on 26-year-old Michelle Wilkins.

Colorado is one of only 12 states that does not have a law making the violent death of a fetus a homicide.

As previously reported, Wilkins went to Lane’s home in Longmont last week believing she was purchasing baby clothes that she saw on Craigslist. However, when she got to the home Lane allegedly stabbed Wilkins, who was seven months along and cut out her baby from her womb.

Investigators said that Lane then allegedly had her husband drive the baby to the hospital.

The baby did not survive and Wilkins is still recovering in the hospital.

Lane is currently being held on $2 million bond.
