Two Navy SEALs died during a training accident in a swimming pool at a Virginia base over the weekend.
The New York Post noted that Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Seth Cody Lewis, 32, died Friday and Special Warfare Operator 1st Class Brett Allen Marihugh, 34, died on Sunday.
Lewis was from New York City and Marihugh was from Livonia, Michigan.
The Virginian-Pilot reported that the men were found face down at the bottom of a pool at the Combat Swimming Training Facility. Both men were transported to a hospital. Lewis died a short time after arriving and Marihugh, who was in critical condition, died after being transferred to Sentara Virginia Beach General.
"Both of these fierce warriors were admired and highly respected among everyone who knew them," said Capt. Pete Vasely, the commander of Naval Special Warfare Group 2, in which the men were members. "We will continue to investigate what happened. We owe it to the families and our teammates."
