Three people are feared to have died in the harsh Australian storm that has been battering Sydney and the New South Wales region since Monday.
The Associated Press reported that the storm, which dumped about a foot of rain on the area and packed 60 mph wind gusts, could have contributed to the deaths of three people.
While authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the deaths, they said that they believe one person was swept away from their home by flood waters.
"At the moment, the circumstances are being worked through, but we do want their families to know our thoughts and prayers are with them," said New South Wales premier Mike Baird.
Because of the ferocious storm thousands of people were evacuated from their residences, others became trapped in their vehicles and some 200,000 homes and businesses were left without power.
As if that’s not bad enough, ABC.net.au noted that forecasters said another storm is developing off South New Wales and will be taking aim at Sydney and the Central Coast within hours. Wind and rainfall could be even more significant in the coming storm. However, conditions are expected to ease and improve greatly later in the day.
