Rock group Alabama Shakes has earned their first No. 1 album thanks to Sound & Color. The group capitalized on the success of their debut album, which earned them a Grammy nomination. Meanwhile, Furious 7’s soundtrack still has gas in the tank.
Sound & Color started its chart run with 96,000 units sold, notes Billboard. Of that total, 91,000 units were actual album sales, so Sound & Color also topped the Top Album Sales chart.
The new album follows their acclaimed 2012 debut Boys & Girls, which peaked at No. 6 on the chart in March 2013. The album earned a Grammy nomination for best rock performance and featured the single “Hold On.” Sound & Color’s lead single is “Don’t Wanna Fight.”
Furious 7, which came in at No. 2 last week, stayed in the same spot with 62,000 units.
The only other new album on the chart this week is rapper Yelawolf’s Love Story, which started at No. 3 with just 58,000 units. Still that’s his career peak and best sales week ever.
Last week’s No. 1 was Handwritten by Shawn Mendes, but it fell all the way outside the Top 10. It dropped to No. 17 with only 20,000 units.
