If you needed an Apple Watch really badly, tough luck. The pre-orders are already backlogged and some models might not even ship until June. But anyone who wanted to at least see what they look like in person were able to, since they were on display in Apple Stores.
Starting today, U.S. Apple fans can go to their local store and try them on for size, but can’t actually buy them. You could also only pre-order them at the online Apple Store. Apple said they are supposed to start shipping on April 24, but if you are trying to buy them now, they won’t ship until June. Even the Apple Watch Edition, which costs a whopping $10,000-$12,000, will not ship until June.
The cheapest model is the streamlined Apple Watch Sport, which costs $349-$399. The Apple Watch costs $549-$599.
And, as Endgadget points out, each model could set you even further back if you want to add the AppleCare+ protection plan, which costs $46-$69, based on the model.
Despite the fact that owning one would require a normal person to rob a bank, the fast sales have proven that Apple may have underestimated the demand.
Apple also got a nice boost of publicity for the Apple Watch, since it appeared on the cover of Vogue China in October, notes Wired.
