It sure didn’t look like spring Thursday in Wyoming when the state was pounded with blizzard conditions that were blamed for a major pile up on the Interstate.
NBC News reported that the April blizzard dumped around 10 inches of snow on Interstate 80. And, those conditions seemed to be the contributing factor in a 70-car pileup that shut down 150 miles of the highway.
"Temperatures were between 29 and 32 degrees," said Meteorologist Mike Doll. "Winds were out of the north, which is a cross wind along that stretch of I-80, with gusts as high as 40 mph."
Accuweather.com noted that the Wyoming Highway Patrol said the accident, which happened just before 11:30 a.m. local time, was like "dominos” when the cars lost control and crashed. The WHP also said that more than two dozen people were transported to a local hospital.
There has not been any word on their conditions, but no deaths have been reported at this time.
The accident remains under investigation.
