At least one person was fatally shot at a community college in North Carolina on Monday morning.
CNN reported that authorities have said that one person was killed in the shooting at Wayne Community College in Goldsboro around 8 a.m. and the gunman is at large.
The building has since been placed on lockdown as well as a nearby prekindergarten through 12th grade private school.
The Associated Press noted that spokeswoman for the college Tara Humphries said that the victim was Ron Lane, a print shop operator who had just arrived at work when he was shot to death.
Authorities have said that the person they are searching for is Kenneth Stancil and he and the victim are thought to have known one another. Police also said that they believe the gunman entered the building through the library carrying a rifle.
The suspect is described as a bald white male, 5-foot-11, with a goatee and a tattoo above his left eye. He was wearing a blue jacket and light-colored pants.
