Avril Lavigne celebrated her 30th birthday in Las Vegas with close girlfriends, but it was on that vacation that she realized that her nagging sense of not feeling well was not normal.

People reported that Lavigne discussed during an interview that she had been bed ridden for five months because she had been diagnosed with a severe case of Lyme disease.

"I had no idea a bug bite could do this," explained Lavigne. "I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move."

The "Complicated" singer added that she thought she was going to die at one point. "There were definitely times, I couldn't shower for a full week because I could barely stand," she says. "It felt like having all your life sucked out of you."

Lavigne's husband Chad Kroeger took breaks when he could from being on tour with his band Nickelback to take care of Lavigne.

She took to Twitter answered a fan who had asked why the singer had gone MIA, that was back in last December. The conversation went viral and the support and well wishes started pouring in from fans around the world, Rolling Stone added.

Lavigne is now feeling better and is ready to get back to music. She plans on releasing her latest single, "Fly" later this month in support of the 2015 Special Olympics.
