An all girl-group from Japan, Babymetal, has combined aggressive metal infused rock 'n' roll with pop and the result, is unique, to say the least. Their sound is referred to "kawaii" (cute) metal. The album is performed in Japanese but it translates into different cultures and results in a diverse fan base. Music doesn't need to be in a specifically language to be appreciated, it is just interrupted in a variety of ways.

The group consists of Su-Metal, who is the lead vocalists, Yuimetal who is credited with being a scream/dance member and Moametal is given the same title. The way that the band is even described is out of the box, these ladies don't want to be held down by conventional labels. The ladies were launched into superstardom when they opened for Lady Gaga on her ArtRave: The Artpop Ball back in 2014.

Their sound at times can be jarring and even confusing to listening to. Combining such an aggressive rock melody with a K-Pop sound, doesn't seem to mesh well, it at times feels like a mashup that is being forced. It isn't until about halfway through the opening song on the album, "Babymetal Death" that is starts to come together and make sense. When the melody is turned into more of a rock/pop sound it highlights the high vocal range that the ladies have.

At times, it's like the audience has to focus on two separate bands that come together as one. The hard hitting metal band and the K-Pop sound. This album is not for everyone and at first listen, might not even sound like music but these ladies are doing something different and really embracing a style of music that hasn't been heard before. They have high energy and fun to watch because it is something so out of left field.

Stand out tracks on the album include, "Gimme chocolate!!" "Rondo of Nightmare" and "Catch Me If You Can."

Their debut album will be released on June 16th in the United States.
