The Baltimore Orioles have announced that the Tuesday night game against the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards has been postponed.

ESPN reported that the team’s decision was made after a discussion with Major League Baseball and officials in Baltimore.

The postponement is due to safety concerns in the wake of the riots and the potential for any acts of violence going forward.

On Monday night, the first game of the series between the two clubs was also postponed. White Sox outfielder Adam Eaton said then that he completely agreed with the decision.

"I think I can speak for all of us; it's a little scary," he said. "You never want anything to happen to anybody attending a baseball game, on the playing field or anybody in the city. We don't really want to tangle with that or put anybody in danger, so I think it's the best from everyone's perspective to cancel the game and hopefully the police officers and officials can get the situation under control."

USA Today Sports noted that on Sunday, demonstrators held protests for the death of Freddie Gray outside the ballpark. At that time all fans were told that they were not allowed to leave until further notice. That game ended up going to extra innings and the restriction was lifted.

As for Wednesday's game, the Orioles have announced that the start time will be at 2:05 p.m. and it will not be open to the public and the weekend series against the Tampa Bay Rays will take place at Tropicana Field.
