Move over, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Ahead of its official Monday premiere, director Zack Snyder released his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer online via his Twitter account.
This trailer release comes after a bootleg of the promo came online Thursday night. This is just after the filmmaker posted a quick tease of the film the same day on his Twitter account, in the promise that it could be seen in IMAX screens across the country this Monday. Sure enough, that leak was good enough to make Warner Bros. change their plans.
This is, of course, not the first time a high profile superhero project had to release their trailer earlier than expected. The same happened to Marvel when they planned to have their Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer released on a set date, only to have to release it early when a bootleg found the trailer in front of computer screens earlier than expected. The other comic book-based company made up for this by having a little extra footage come in front of their planned tease, but it doesn't sound like Warner Bros. has any plans like that cooked up for the moment.
As seen by this trailer, Superman (Henry Cavill) is considered a "false God" in light of his actions after Man of Steel, and it's up to Batman (Ben Affleck) to show him the error of this ways, even if he has to fight him or, as he says here, answer the question "do you bleed?" It's a brief tease, and while a tad too stylish—especially in conjunction to Synder's last film—it's hard for superhero fans to not get their mouths watered at the prospect of these two coming together on the screen to duke it out.
They can see such a thing when Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice comes to theaters on March 25, 2016.
