Ben & Jerry’s has gotten some criticism over their new ice cream beer they have plans to create.

As previously reported, the popular ice cream company that is known for creating unique names to go along with their many flavors of ice cream, are hoping to work with New Belgium Brewing to put together a product for ale that would be a first for them.

New Belgium has other dessert-inspired names that include Salted Belgian chocolate stout while the Ben & Jerry’s name would be Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale.

However, according to USA Today, the company is facing backlash for putting kid-friendly brand onto a beer product. While the brew is expected to begin selling in stores this coming fall, some groups say this could have a bad impact for kids.

The executive director and CEO of Alcohol Justice, Bruce Lee Livingston, said, “It’s a crass, corporate greedy move to put a brand name like Ben $ Jerry’s on beer. It’s bad for children- who will start looking at beer as the next step after ice cream.”

Ben & Jerry’s has not commented on the criticism, but a press release for both companies reportedly said this project was an effort to “focus on environmental awareness.”
