Even though the last time Jack faced a Giant on the big screen didn’t quite work out, Disney is going to take a crack at the timeless story. The studio has hired Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan to work on it.

The news was first reported by Deadline and also by Entertainment Weekly. Gilligan has written a detailed outline for the project and already picked Thomas Schnauz to write the actual script. Schnauz is a two-time Emmy winner and worked on Breaking Bad and Saul.

Jack and the Beanstalk has been done in film and animation countless times. Warner Bros. and Bryan Singer took a different take on the story with 2013’s Jack The Giant Slayer, which was a costly bomb. It only made $65 million in North America.

Disney also isn’t completely new to the story. Mickey Mouse climbed a beanstalk in the animated film Fun and Fancy Free. The studio had tried to make a full-length feature, but it ended up just being one of two shorts that made up that 1947 film.
