Disco legend Giorgio Moroder is about to release a new album with several collaborations with today’s pop stars. The first two singles from the album have already been released, but now we’re hearing a third track - his cover of “Tom’s Diner” with Britney Spears.
The track, which was written by Suzanne Vega and actually inspired by the same diner used in Seinfeld, features Spears vocals with a typical Moroder backing. It takes the song to a different level and is surprisingly good.
The track was posted at Ultimate Music and can be heard below.
Moroder is experiencing a creative rebirth, thanks to artists like Daft Punk featuring him on their albums. He is also a three-time Oscar winner thanks to his work on Top Gun, Flashdance and Midnight Express. He announced his first album in 30 years in November 2014, titled Deja Vu.
The title track was released as the first single. The second single is “Right Here, Right Now” with Kylie Minogue on vocals. Charli XCX, Mikky Eggo, Matthew Koma, Sia, Foxes, Kelis and Marlene are also featured on the album.
Deja Vu comes out on June 16.
