The line-up for the 2015 Cannes Film Festival was announced this morning in Paris. Like most years, there will be plenty of Hollywood stars at the prestigious festival, plus Pixar’s Inside Out will have its world premiere.
As previously announced, the festival is opening with the French production La Tete haute, by Emmanuelle Bercot. That’s a departure from past festivals, which have opened with big, glamorous films like Grace of Monaco and The Great Gatsby.
However, the rest of the line-up made up for it. The competition line-up includes Carol, the latest film from Todd Haynes; Justin Kurzel’s anticipated Macbeth with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard; Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth with Michael Caine; and Gus Van Sant’s Sea of Trees with Matthew McConaughey.
The films screening out of competition are likely to get the most attention. Woody allen’s Irrational Man with Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix will debut, as will the latest film from Pixar, Inside Out. George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road and Mark Osborne’s The Little Prince will also be screened.
The festival runs from May 13-24, with Joel and Ethan Coen as presidents of the jury.
