Clint Eastwood was at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday to receive an honor after the success of his American Sniper last year for a Q&A session. While Sniper was a big topic, he also got to his feud with documentary filmmaker Michael Moore.
Back in January, Moore took to Facebook and Twitter to share his thoughts on American Sniper and mentioned that Eastwood threatened to kill him at the 2005 National Board of Review Awards. Eastwood was really not happy that Moore had showed up on Charlton Heston’s doorstep to ask the actor about gun control, notes Variety.
“People said to me, 'What do you think about what Michael Moore is saying? That this film is that…' And I said, 'He's probably right. Any way you want to look at it is different. So, that's his opinion, so to it,” Eastwood said, reports HitFix. “Well, everyone keeps saying I threatened to kill Michael Moore. That's not true.”
Then there was a beat, before Eastwood joked, “It isn’t a bad idea.”
Eastwood also said that he is not directing the Richard Jewell biopic. There were rumors earlier this month that he would do it, but he isn’t sure it will happen.
“Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don't,” Eastwood said. “That was an interesting one. I have several interesting things out there I'm kind of milling about."
