A Salt Lake City couple, who was married for 74 years, died within hours of one another on April 7.
The Associated Press noted that about six hours after Carol Bradford’s 94-year-old mother Madelyn Yensen passed away, she went to her father Marcus Yensen’s care center to break the news.
"I leaned over and whispered in his ear, 'Mom has passed, and she's waiting for you in heaven,’” Bradford said. “I think after that, he knew he had accomplished what he needed and he felt that he could let go.”
Her mother died after suffering a seizure and her father, on that same day, died of a heart attack.
The pair met in 1940 when Bradford’s father went to a dance studio and got a lesson from his future wife. The two soon wed and had three children together.
Their combined obituary said that “Marcus and Madelyn would not be separated by death” and “Marcus held the gates of heaven open so Madelyn could walk in first, then followed her. “
A memorial service for the couple is scheduled for May 9.
