The creepy video game Five Nights At Freddy’s is getting a movie, thanks to Warner Bros. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter novelist Seth Grahame-Smith is among the project’s producers.
The news was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Entertainment Weekly also confirmed that the project is in the works.
Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee will produce with KatzSmith Productions’ David Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith. No writers or directors have been assigned to it yet.
Five Nights At Freddy’s is set at a fictional pizza restaurant called Freddy Fezbear’s Pizza, which is a scary version of Chuck E. Cheese. There, the player is locked in at night and has to survive attacks from the animatronic animal band that becomes evil when the children aren’t around.
This sounds like perfect material for Grahame-Smith, who also co-wrote Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows. He is also currently working on a Beetlejuice sequel.
