For the second time this week, Disney has started development for a new live-action version of an animated movie. This time, it’s Winnie the Pooh that is up to bat.

Deadline is reporting that the studio hired Alex Ross Perry to write a story about Christopher Robin as an adult, making his return to the Hundred Acre Wood and reuniting with his silly old bear.

Perry is best known for writing and directing Listen Up Philip, which earned rave reviews out of Sundance last year.

It’s worth noting that Disney has gone after indie talent in the past for big projects. David Lowrey, who made the gritty Sundance hit Ain’t Them Body Saints, is currently working on a remake of Pete’s Dragon.

Earlier this week, the studio announced plans to bring Mulan back to the big screen as a live-action movie.

As for Pooh, A.A. Milne’s Hundred Acre Wood characters have been a part of the Disney stable since the ‘60s, when Disney began producing shorts based on the stories. In 1977, the shorts were gathered for The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh. Pooh returned to the silver screen with 2011’s Winnie The Pooh, although there have been plenty of other Pooh adventures created by different branches of the studio in between.
