The first photo of Kodi Smit-McPhee as the blue-skinned mutant Nightcrawler for X-Men: Apocalypse was shared by director Bryan Singer earlier this morning. However, the photo is already gone.

Singer tweeted that today is actually the first day on the set. He included a link to an Instagram post with a picture of Smit-McPhee in full Nightcrawler make-up. Comicbook.com and other sites managed to get a screenshot of the post before Singer took it down.

Smit-McPhee got the role in February and replaces Alan Cumming, who played the role in 2003’s X2: X-Men United.

Apocalypse is set for release on May 27, 2016. In addition to Smit-McPhee, other new faces joining the franchise include Olivia Munn, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp and tYe Sheridan. Oscar Isaac is playing Apocalypse.

Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult are all returning as the Fox franchise continues to focus on the younger First Class stars.
